MOTOCROSS MADNESS

Developed by: Microsoft (1998)
Genre: Motocross/Supercross Dirt Bike Sim
System Requirements: P90 or better, 20 MB HD space, 16 MB RAM, 4x CD ROM, DirectX 5.0, SVGA card, Modem, 3D accelerator card.

OVERVIEW: Grab your helmet and get ready for the ride of your life! Microsoft's Motocross Madness is the ultimate dirt biking, supercross, baja racing sim ever. This is one extremely fun game!

The premise is basically racing your motocross/dirt bike around various outdoor and indoor courses. Your intent is pulling off spectacular tricks without killing yourself! It's that simple- and so much fun. The graphics, sounds and interfaces are excellent. I actually found myself cringing as my cyber-biker took a rather nasty spill (complete with painful grunt..). The tracks, be they indoor or outdoor, are great and a real challenge to master. Yet the best part of Motocross Madness is the multi-player option which allows you to race (and taunt) friends and family via the Internet, network or modem. My brother and I had some serious racing going on just about every evening for over a month.

While the subject seems just as limited as Monster Truck Madness 2, it's really a more than just racing about. There is a wide variety of tracks and venues: each rendered to almost perfection (you almost can taste the dust) to race on. The game options allow for stunt racing as well- players earn points for successfully preforming various stunts. So this is a more diverse off-road game in comparision.

This one is highly recommended to anyone looking for a fun off-road racing sim (or a good, fun game in general).
